New Cirque du Soleil Coming To Pittsburgh

Cirque du Soleil returns to Pittsburgh May 12-29 with a brand new production called “Totem.”  The production will take place in Cirque’s trademark blue-and-yellow Grand Chapiteau – its version of a circus big top.  The raising of the big top tent for Totem will be the first time Cirque has done so in six years.

The fun will take place at 20th Street and the Allegheny Valley Railroad in the Strip District, behind the Pittsburgh Public Market. “Totem,” which had its premiere in April in Montreal, traces the journey of man species from its amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. Inspired by many creation myths, the “Totem” illustrates, through a visual and acrobatic language, the evolutionary progress of species.
Tickets go on sale Sunday — $45 to $250; $28.50 to $175 for ages 2 to 12.
